Designer Steve Webb invented Finger Protector®️ because his daughter Emma inadvertently trapped her fingers in a door at home twice within weeks!
Children’s Charter
With nothing on the market to solve the problem he designed a simple yet highly effective solution to protect Emma, other children, and vulnerable groups such as the blind, disabled, and the elderly from the horrors of serious injury or finger loss.
Having established Safety Assured as the go-to company for door safety solutions, Steve has taken a back seat from day-to-day operations to set up Children’s Charter, a research based not for profit organisation to protect the rights and welfare of Children. With the aim of keeping children safe and well there are a number of areas where Children’s Charter focuses its efforts. Steve is passionate not only about door safety but also the impact of electromagnetic smog, promoting fitness and raising the issue of prejudice by policy. Founder
In relation to door safety Steve says “Every injury that occurs is entirely the fault of a failed risk assessment. Legislation states that a competent person must carry out a risk assessment, but if you are not a specialist in door safety, you are not competent to assess if a door is safe or not. Unless risk assessments are 100% correct, you will have an injury. The injuries that occur are to often born of inadvertent adult ignorance or reneged responsibility.”
Children’s Charter is seeking funding to set up a network of specialist risk assessors to help create research allowing the NHS to save substantial amounts of money treating unnecessary injuries. Contact steve@childrens-charter.org for further information.
